FAQs about TPRO

What is TPRO?

Teachers' Professional Records Online (TPRO®) is a secure Web application that can be used by ECE services to manage:

  • Staff Professional Records: Staff General Information, Professional Development Information, Professional Journal
  • Service-Related Staff Records: Teacher Registration Information, Staff Agreement Information, Staff Responsibility Information, Staff Appraisal Information
  • Additional Service Information: Service General Information, Service Planning Information, Reports, References

For further information, see the ECE TPRO Overview Diagram

How is TPRO used?

Because TPRO is a completely Web-based service, it can be accessed by authorised users any time using a Web browser at work or at home. It does not require the use of a server or an IT specialist.

How does TPRO work?

Professional records are stored in one central, Web-accessible area. The use of the TPRO site as the interface to a central database has many advantages, including the fact that authorised users can access it any time, any where. (For further information, see Benefits of TPRO.) TPRO uses a content management system that enables people to easily and collaboratively (if required) author records. Key features of TPRO include its usability, security, flexibility and reliability (for detailed information, see Technical Features).

Who developed TPRO?

TPRO was developed by The Biddulph Group (see Developers). The development process included ongoing consultation with and detailed feedback from a range of Early Childhood educators (including service managers), the New Zealand Childcare Association, a large Kindergarten Association, NZEI, Teachers Council and the Ministry of Education.
